Video Review: SGP Flex HD for Samsung Galaxy S III

The Galaxy S3 is finally amongst us! After a long 4 month wait (for me at least), I received my 16 GB Pebble Blue model late last week. Whenever I get my hands on a new device, I immediately start sourcing cases & accessories to keep my beloved well protected. In today's post, we'll be checking out the Spigen SGP Flex HD full coverage screen protector for the S3.

Back in December I installed and reviewed the same screen protector for the Galaxy Nexus and went on the use that screen protector for the following 7 months. Upon hearing SGP would remake this shield for the S3, I knew I wanted to check it out right away! A full coverage screenshield is one that covers the whole glass display, in the case of the S3, its slight curvature means some protectors can't cover the curved areas.

Visually, this screen protector won't provide the best clarity or feel, but where it excels is protection. A little thicker than most, the Flex HD provides unparalleled protection from drops and scratches.

Something great happened to me today; I got the rather unexpected joy of being able to play with the Samsung Galaxy S III. The pieces fell together quite unexpectedly yesterday, when a nameless benefactor temporarily came into possession of an S3, and was kind enough to give it up for a couple of hours today (I don't think I could have been so generous, I would have been more in the "from my cold dead hands" camp I think).

Anyways, what follows is an account of my brief two hour experience with the S3, and some of my thoughts and early impressions. I unearthed a few things that nobody else has covered in relation to the S3, so I hope you'll enjoy it (you didn't think exFAT support was all I had for you, did ya?).

[Announcement] HTC Rezound coming to Verizon

Earlier today in New York, HTC announced the imminent release of the HTC Rezound handset. Previously known as the HTC Vigor; the HTC Rezound comes with Beats Audio, a promising 4.3" 720p display (that's 342ppi!) and LTE 4G support in the US.

Unfortunately HTC are still using the outdated Qualcomm MSM 8660 Snapdragon core processor (albeit at 1.5GHz) so I think it's pixel pushing powers may be a little lacking - especially without the hardware acceleration of Android 4.0 ICS. It is also very thick, weighing in at 13.65mm, more than 1.5 times the thickness of a Galaxy SII.

Despite any apparent shortcomings this may turn out to be quite a decent handset with such a high res display.Unfortunately it's going to have to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which is being released at around the same time.
