Galaxy Note 2 Smart Dock - exclusive first look video review!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of these very cool pieces of kit over the last couple of days, check out the video for a detailed demonstration of what it can do. I have to return it to Samsung very quickly, so if you have questions please ask them at the YouTube channel as quickly as possible.

    1. I would also like to know if it works with the S3. I have been looking for something like this ever since I saw your S3 usb video.
I love your reviews! Keep up the good work.

  3. Awesome, as usual : )

I'm amazed Samsung want the dock back. You seem to be one of the few tech reviewers who fully understands what a modern smartphone is capable of and tries to spread the word - Sammie should send you this kind of thing for free.

So few tech journos even have the guts to point out and explain flaws such as why, for example, a microsd card slot is only fully of use if one can install apps or at least their data to an 'external' sd card (without the need to root and explore workarounds such as directory bind). What I'm rambling my way around to saying is....it's good of you to point out some of the dock's limitations so that those of us stupid/desperate enough to detach an appendage and exchange it for one have a clear idea what to expect ; ) Once the price falls and Samsung release a Note 2 with enough internal storage for me to install Co-pilot plus at least half a dozen games on, I'll be buying one. Hope I don't have to wait too long!

How about showing us how some of the more graphically challenging games run on the Note 2 via MHL - do Shadowgun, NOVA 3 etc run smoothly and look good? (haven't watched your connectivity video yet).

  9. Argh, lost my post. The 4.1.2 update appears to add compatibility for this dock to the S3. Check out the list of compatible devices under their Samsung.de list ("kompatible Produkte")
    m.samsung.com/de/consumer/mobile-device/mobilephones/accessories-mobile-phones/docking-station/EDD-S20EWEGSTD

I can't seem to locate it, but I learned this from a German thread on the USP forums, where they also linked to a video of using the dock on the European release of 4.1.2.
