So many Gameloft titles for so cheap! |
Have a read after the jump if you want to know more before diving in.
Detailed view of an app on sale |
The main interface of the app displays all apps that are currently on special in a scrolling list. Once you select an app you are shown more details including the original price, star ratings etc. Here you can just select 'GET IT FOR $0.99' (or whatever the price may be) to jump through to the Play Store and purchase the app.
The Watchlist |
- You can press the 'eye' when searching through apps that are on sale in AppSale
- In Play Store you can share to 'Price History' to add them to the Watchlist in AppSale
I recommend having Poweramp on here |
Once you have added apps to your Watchlist you can then view whether or not they have dropped in price in the last 48 hours. This feature alone makes AppSales worth installing.
In terms of other features there are a couple of extra things available in Settings.
- Set filters will let you filter how much of a discount is required before an app shows up in your stream. You can also set a minimum number of downloads so you are only viewing popular apps.
- Select categories lets you select to display or hide the 33 different categories available on the Play Store. This included 8 categories for games and 25 for apps.
- Notification setttings lets you set how frequently AppSales will check for new sales and show notifications.
If I were to criticise anything about this app it would just be around the volume of data in one scrolling list. I think it would be a little more efficient if you could have separate lists for each category and perhaps scroll between them horizontally (much like a Twitter client). Additionally the prices shown in AppSale don't necessarily reflect the pricing of the app in every country.
If you're still reading, I highly recommend AppSales since its such a useful app - and free to boot. Grab it here from the Play Store or scan the barcode below.
App Sales on Play Store |
Nice review of a very handy app. I've only started using it recently (2 days ago) after seeing it in a certain Twitter conversation and love it so far. My only gripe so far is that I'd like to see local currencies used.

Hi Lee, I've updated the article to say that the prices shown don't reflect per country pricing.
DeleteThis app is great for finding apps that Dan W are currently on sale and you can even track apps in a 'Watchlist' to keep an eye out for any app you are interested in getting.
